I’m glad that the Shuttle made it back in one piece this time. When Columbia crashed a few years ago, we were awakened by a loud boom as it passed over Dallas. We didn’t know what the boom was until about an hour later when we watched the morning news that Saturday morning and watched the video of it streaking overhead.
As a civilization, we went from the invention of the airplane (1903) to launching a man into space (1961) in 58 years. We went from launching a man into space to putting one on the moon in 8 years. WTF has happened to our drive to explore space? We’re still sending up these brave astronauts in technology that was designed 30 years ago. The technological revolution has passed up NASA. I’m glad that President Bush has set strong goals to get us back to the moon (hello 1969, we missed you so much!) and beyond. I want my jetpack and flying cars that were promised to me when I was a kid.
I’m still getting over the stomach bug that has plagued my family for the past week. EVERYONE in the house has been sick. I tried to run a few days ago and didn’t even make it a quarter mile before I had to stop and walk. I’ve taken a few days off and will either go out for a long walk tonight or take the bike out for a spin. Maybe being 45lbs lighter will make the seat easier on my ass!
I’m down another threshold in my WW points system now. I’m down to 28 points a day now, which isn’t as bad as I had been anticipating. I’ve been trying to up my veggie and fruit intake, but I’ve also been upping my Gobstopper intake as well. Damn you Mr. Wonka! Your sweet, delicious globes are drawing me to their candy layered goodness.

Found you I know not how, but love the space!
